Short mat sessions run on: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 10am; Monday to Friday afternoons from 2pm and Thursday evenings from 6pm. The season will start on Monday 4th October, 2021.
Sue Jolin is our Short Mat Organiser and this year's short mat meeting will be held in the pavilion on Wednesday 22nd September, 2021 at 10am.
SHORT MAT COMPETITIONS
In addition to the weekly short mat sessions, there are 2 competitions:
Short Mat Trophy:
An annual one-day drawn pairs competition. This year's competition was last held on Saturday 7th March 2020 and offered a full day of enthusiastic and skillful bowling in the pavilion, when 20 club members competed for the short mat drawn pairs trophy. Spectators were treated to some very entertaining matches, all played in a friendly atmosphere. This important competition in the short mat calendar culminated in an exciting closely fought 10 end final with the winning pair of Ann Melville and Paul Longley just beating worthy runners up Sally Reed and John Paddington. Club President, Tim Capron, made the official trophy presentation and also thanked Sue and Carole for organizing the event.
A triples league competition is played throughout the short mat season with each session entering a team. The competition details and updated league table can be accessed here once the season is underway.
