Our Club entertained a Touring Club from Lindfield, East Sussex on a perfect weather afternoon.  6 rinks of 4’s played a competitive match complete with jokes and banter from both sides.  Halfway through there was a break for tea & biscuits with many thanks to the Catering Team of Carole Tearle, Marily McCann and Janice Perkins.

Both sides won 3 rinks with a final score of 79 to Milford, 106 to Lindfield. Congratulations to our Club Top Rinkers, June Didlick, Lorna Wright, Bill Wild and Dave Musson scoring 22 points.

Lindfield presented us with a charming water colour painting of their Pavilion which is now on display in our Pavilion. For photos, see the Gallery page.

The afternoon was enjoyed by everyone and this marked the end of our Friendly

Matches this season.

Once the weather starts to cool down, even the most seasoned of players feels a nip in the air!

Sorry Judy - I couldn't resist!

These 2 matches were on 13th and 14th September, but what a difference 24 hours can make. The Ladies couldn't even get onto the green due to the constant, heavy drizzle, whilst the men were bathed in sunshine - arguably somewhat unfair! So, whilst the men enjoyed a great match with unrivalled competitiveness, the ladies resorted to a good old chin wag and a catch up, but still enjoyed the afternoon. Many thanks to Janice for our refreshments. The next day the Men also enjoyed a buffet meal, prepared by Chris Capron, Carole Tearle, Carole Wilcox and Kate Wall. For photos of both events, please go to the Gallery page.

FLOWER POWER BBQ - Friday September 16th:

This Social Event was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, many of whom wore Flower Power Fancy Dress. The prizes for best dressed Man and Woman went to Val Brace and Geoff Fall. Along with the BBQ meal everyone battled with the Quiz before the Raffle was drawn (raising money for Oakhaven Hospice). Many thanks to Carole Tearle for her organisation, plus the kitchen team for all their hard work (especially Paul and Julia).

The Final of this Annual Men's Competition took place on Saturday 10th August and Milford Men's B Team represented us in the Final. This exciting game had the audience glued to their seats as the result came down to the last bowl of the last end - no pressure! Milford emerged as the Winners and took the Trophy. It was a great result for Tony Styles, Robert Wilcox, Bob Drake, Chris Hobby, Peter Melville and Don Waite. Many Congratulations and Well Done!

The Final of this Annual Tournament took place on Sunday 4th August at Lymington Bowls Club and our very own JUDY SPOONER and GEOFF FALL represented us very well. Having battled through numerous rounds to reach the Final, it is an incredible achievement. Whilst they didn't emerge as the winners, they certainly did Milford on Sea Bowls Club proud, so Well Done to both of you!

Milford entertained a Touring Team from Great Hollands Bowls Club on this rain-free afternoon. 6 rinks of Triples competed in a very amicable match played over 18 ends with a break halfway for tea & cakes.  Many thanks go to the Catering Team of Julia Longley, Carole Wilcox and Linda Evans.

Both sides won 3 rinks with a final score of 123 to Milford and 89 to Great Hollands. Congratulations to our Top Rink, Tony Berry, Kate Wall and Geoff Fall, scoring 29 points.

It was a great afternoon with really friendly visitors which was enjoyed by all present. Photos can be viewed on the Gallery page. We look forward to our next and last Friendly Match at Home this year on Wednesday 21st September which will be 6 rinks of 4 players each side.

A variety of club social events are held throughout the year. These occasions are a great way to enjoy the company and friendship of fellow club members. Full details of each event will be displayed in the Clubhouse and here, on the club’s website.

With the great addition in 2021 of the Bowlers Retreat we are wanting to make good use of the facilities that we now have.

We always appreciate and welcome ideas and suggestions for new social functions. Any club member who feels they could organise an event or would like to help in some way, please get in touch with the Club’s Social Coordinator: Paul Ware-Lane. Email:  pware.lane@yahoo.co.uk

Given the quiet period over the past couple of years it would be great to see our Club and facilities being used to the full again and I look forward to hearing from you.
